News Shopper’s Greenwich reporter’s relief at leaving SE London

Thank goodness it’s Friday, eh? Especially if you’re Nina Massey, the Greenwich and Lewisham reporter for Petts Wood-based newspaper the News Shopper. After a hard week slumming it around Petts Wood – and maybe even Greenwich and Lewisham, too – it’s always a relief when you return to the place you love the best.

Ooops. To be fair, Nina is a north London lass, hailing from Harrow, and it’s not bad up there. But it does pay to be nice about the area where you work.

Funnily enough, the Twitter watchers of Petts Wood revelled in March this year when a Labour council candidate 17 miles away in Northfleet, Kent, resigned after it was found he’d used the snappy message service some six months before to make off-colour gags about blind people, Mormons, booze, and worst of all, “shitty” Arriva buses. Heaven forbid a journalist be caught making unwise comments on Twitter, eh?

But hey, let’s be forgiving. People of Greenwich and Lewisham (and Petts Wood) – where shall we take Nina to prove to her that south-east London is a place she should be proud of reporting on?

  1. Nice suss!

    News Shopper? What’s that?

Haven’t had a copy in ages.

And yes, Nina, it is strange….
