It’s easy to take the mickey out of elected representatives, and by crikey, this website likes an easy joke. But when a local councillor willingly poses for a photo with a clown, I reckon it’s pretty good sign the campaign’s onto a good thing. To find out more about the 4,500-strong petition that’s just been handed over demanding the animal centre in Maryon Wilson Park, Charlton, is saved, hop over to the Charlton Champion.
One thing that struck me that’s probably best said over here, though – at 45 people, the “buggy protest” was bigger than the demo outside Greenwich Park the day the Olympic test events started. If the Maryon Wilson Park campaign gets only a fifth of the coverage the Greenwich Park protesters did, it’ll be doing well.
