The court hearing for a Greenwich councillor accused of fraud and perverting the course of justice has been adjourned until Monday 20 August, magistrates in Bexleyheath heard this morning.

Ashikodi, 29, was due to appear alongside her 49-year-old father, Tony Ashikodi.

But Bexley magistrates were told that Greenwich Council, which is bringing the case against her, had agreed to adjourn the case because she had booked a holiday.

Tonia Ashikodi, who was elected for the Labour Party in Glyndon ward in May 2016, is charged with two counts of fraud by misrepresentation in applications to Greenwich Council for housing in October 2008 and May 2012. She is also charged with perverting the course of justice in May 2018.

Tony Ashikodi, who lives in Thamesmead, is charged with perverting the course of justice at the same time.

The charges were brought by Greenwich Council after an investigation into property ownership and Tonia Ashikodi’s tenancy of a council home.
